Pebas

Pebas is a small town about halfway between Iquitos and Leticia, at the mouth of the Ampiyacu River.  (The Huitoto Indians in Peru live on the Napo, Ampiyacu and Putamayo Rivers.)  When we lived on the Ampiyacu River, we used to travel downstream from the villages of Estiron and PucaUrquillo when necessary to get supplies.  The boat launches make stops here to drop off and pick up passengers and cargo.
